sculptures and monument
The Fonderie d’Art d’Inverness, founded in 1987, is a dynamic Quebec company that uses innovative methods and traditional techniques to maintain the artistic qualities of sculpture.
Our craftsmen are specialists in molding, casting and reproduction of works of art in bronze and aluminum. Our expertise and professionalism are what our customers (municipalities, corporations, museums and artists) seek above all.
The product of the artist’s imagination arrives at the workshop in the form of a wooden, plaster or clay sculpture from which an imprint will be made. The first mold, made of silicone, produces a surprisingly accurate imprint of the original work.
Wax is then poured to become, once cooled down, the sculpture replica. Next, casting tracks made from wax are added in order to clear the way for the melting metal.
The wax sculpture is quenched many times into ceramic chambers to shape the final mold through successive layers.
The final mold is then placed in an autoclave under high pressure, which discharges the wax. This frees space to be fill up by the molten bronze during casting.
Relying on sandblasting, polishing, welding and chiselling, the finisher and the carver insure the artwork respects the integrity of the original model.
Finally, the acid patinas are applied under heat giving the final piece shimmering and vivid tones which show off the artisans’ remarkable work.
The seal of the Fonderie d’Art d’Inverness has been engraved on more than 10 000 sculptures spread all over the world. This seal is a guarantee of excellence and high quality standards.
For 30 years, our pride and expertise in art have supported the artist into pushing the limits of eternal beauty.
